Felipe Femur & Friends: Where Monsters Become Friends

Step inside Toonstone, a world where classic monsters, childhood curiosity, and family fun come together

There is something wonderfully reassuring about a monster who wants to be your friend.

For generations, Halloween monsters have lurked in haunted houses, emerged from shadowy graveyards, and given us a delicious shiver when October nights grow dark. But what happens when those familiar creatures trade their frightening reputations for friendship, humor, music, and everyday adventures?

Welcome to Toonstone, the home of Felipe Femur & Friends!

I recently explored this online world and came away impressed by its variety. Children can meet lovable monsters, play games, read stories, enjoy music, and learn something new along the way. It’s Halloween entertainment with a generous helping of imagination, and a reminder that spooky doesn’t always have to mean scary.

For families looking for a little Halloween magic to share, it’s a welcoming place to begin.

A Different Kind of Monster Story

Twin brothers David and Russell Dorn created Felipe Femur & Friends in 2015 with a simple idea: take the classic monsters we know from Halloween and give them personalities, friendships, and lives of their own.

The brothers told me, “We loved the idea of taking classic Halloween monsters and giving them their own personalities, friendships, and everyday adventures. We wanted to create a world where monsters could be funny, lovable, and a little spooky all at once.”

I particularly like that last thought. A little spooky, but lovable. Halloween doesn’t have to give up its mystery to welcome younger audiences, and there’s plenty of room for a skeleton with personality, a monster with a mischievous streak, or a spooky story that inspires laughter as readily as curiosity.

The magic lies in seeing familiar figures in a new light. Instead of simply representing the things we fear, these monsters become characters children can relate to, laugh with, and share adventures with. That opens the door to a different kind of Halloween, one built around creativity, companionship, and the simple pleasure of a good story.

From a Creative Idea to a Monster-Sized World

What began as a small project has grown into a sprawling collection of characters, stories, games, books, comics, and music. The brothers’ 2026 relaunch brought it all together in one online destination, making it easier for a new generation of families to find.

“What started as a small creative project has grown into an entire world of characters, stories, games, books, comics, and music,” they told me. “Our 2026 relaunch gave us the opportunity to bring everything together in one place and introduce Felipe and his friends to a new generation.”

That growth is part of what makes the project interesting. Rather than offering a single activity or a brief seasonal diversion, Felipe Femur & Friends gives children many ways in. One visitor might gravitate toward the characters and their adventures. Another might be drawn to the games, music, or comics. Someone else might discover a recipe or a craft project and decide to bring a little of Toonstone into the real world.

In other words, the fun doesn’t have to end when the screen goes dark.

Games, Stories, and a Whole Crew of Characters

There are 18 free browser games featuring Felipe and his monster companions, giving young visitors opportunities to play and explore. Original cartoons and videos bring the characters to life, while spooky stories offer a literary adventure for children who enjoy a little mystery with their entertainment. Original cartoons and videos bring the characters to life, while spooky stories reward kids who like a little mystery.

The site also offers children’s books and original comics, so a character who first catches a child’s eye in a video or game may become a companion worth revisiting on the page.

And then there’s the music! Monster-themed songs and music videos add rhythm and humor, and there’s something especially appealing about a world where monsters don’t just appear in stories but have songs of their own.

At the heart of the story is Felipe and his delightfully monstrous crew. Meet a not-so-wicked witch with a knack for strange recipes, a toothless werewolf with a giant appetite, and Mayor Wesley, Toontown’s dapper top-hatted cat. And that’s just the beginning—a whole cast of eccentric characters is waiting to be discovered!

Little Hands, Big Imaginations

One of my favorite things about the site is how much it asks kids to do, not just watch.

Free coloring pages, arts and crafts, and other creative projects invite children to join in. Kids can experiment with color, make something of their own, and bring a little monster creativity home.

Toonstone offers even more ways to bring the magic home with a collection of fun family recipes. Cooking a themed treat together is a wonderful way to build lasting Halloween traditions. A prime example is the tasty Grave Goblets from Runny’s Recipes—a delicious blend of chocolate, Cool Whip, and Oreo cookies that’s sure to delight ghoulies of all ages. Just grab a spoon and a napkin for a bite of pure Halloween heaven!

Children aren’t simply receiving entertainment; they’re being invited to respond to it. They can color, build, make, read, sing, and explore. And sometimes the best part of a creative project isn’t the finished product. It’s the time spent making it together, the unexpected ideas, and the laughter that follows when something doesn’t turn out quite as planned

When Halloween Becomes a Learning Adventure

The site features a variety of educational activities covering Halloween science, history, trivia, and more. Explore fascinating historical perspectives on iconic figures like vampires, werewolves, witches, and the Loch Ness Monster. Plus, enjoy legendary folklore and discover the answers to classic questions—like why we carve pumpkins and why bats only fly at night.

It’s an appealing combination: familiar seasonal themes spark curiosity, and entertaining characters make learning feel approachable. Halloween, after all, is full of fascinating questions. Where did our favorite traditions originate? Why do pumpkins feature so prominently in autumn celebrations? How did the monsters we know today become part of popular culture? Families and teachers can use children’s existing enthusiasm for the holiday as a springboard for exploration.

I have always believed that imagination and learning make good company. A story can inspire a question, a question can lead to discovery, and discovery can send a young mind wandering toward an entirely new interest.

A friendly monster might be an unlikely teacher, but that’s part of the charm.

A World Families Can Enjoy Together

With so many kinds of entertainment gathered in one place, there are plenty of ways for families to take part together. Parents can explore alongside their children and choose which games, stories, videos, or projects to enjoy. Teachers may find ideas for the classroom, too. And because the offerings span several formats, children can follow their interests from one to the next. A game might lead to a story. A character might inspire a drawing. A video might spark a conversation about a historical Halloween tradition.

The more I explored, the more I appreciated the brothers’ range. Felipe Femur & Friends isn’t confined to one kind of activity or one way of enjoying Halloween. It’s a collection of possibilities, united by a cast of friendly monsters and a spirit of playful discovery.

That’s a fang-tastic invitation for children, and for the adults who share their adventures.

The Magic Behind the Monsters

Ultimately, a project like this is about more than its games, books, songs, or colorful characters. It’s also about the experience its creators hope to offer.

When I asked what they hoped children and families would take away from exploring Toonstone, David and Russell’s answer captured the project’s spirit. “Above all, we hope Felipe Femur & Friends sparks imagination and gives families a place to have fun together. Halloween doesn’t always have to be frightening. Sometimes the monsters can be your friends.”

I couldn’t help smiling at that final thought.

For those of us who love Halloween, the season holds many kinds of magic. There are the haunted attractions and spine-tingling stories, of course, but also the joy of dressing up, making something with our hands, sharing a favorite story, and seeing familiar traditions through a child’s eyes.

Friendly monsters have a place in that world, too. They give younger children a welcoming introduction to Halloween’s playful side, and they remind the rest of us that the season isn’t only for the frightening and macabre. It can be creative, educational, and wonderfully inclusive.
